The objective of this study was to calculate and compare a kidney mobility score in asymptomatic and low back pain individuals through real-time ultrasound investigation; to assess the effect of osteopathic fascial manipulation, consisting of still technique and fascial unwinding, on renal mobility in people with non-specific LBP; and to evaluate "if" and "to what degree" pain perception may vary in patients with LBP, after OFM is applied.

Pneumonia is a common cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. While antibiotics are generally effective for the treatment of infection, the emergence of resistant strains of bacteria threatens their success. The osteopathic medical profession has designed a set of manipulative techniques called lymphatic pump techniques, to enhance the flow of lymph through the lymphatic system.

Osteopathic Family Physician

Major limb amputation, traumatically or nontraumatically induced, is a major life-changing event, often precipitating chronic pain, dysfunction and altered self-image. This article explores the relevance of osteopathic manipulative treatment in management of the patient with major limb amputation, using the lower limb as an example and focusing primarily on issues related to gait and psychological independence.

Focus on Alternative and Complementary Therapies

The aim of this overview was to critically evaluate the evidence of effectiveness for spinal manipulation in any pediatric condition. Four electronic databases were searched from their inception to July 2011 to identify all relevant systematic reviews of spinal manipulation for any pediatric condition.

Manually-applied movement and mobilization of body parts as a healing activity has been used for centuries. A relatively high velocity, low amplitude force applied to the vertebral column with therapeutic intent, referred to as spinal manipulative therapy, is one such activity.
