Saronno
Saronno, a city rich in history, is the chosen venue for the Open Forum conference due to its convenient location and cultural charm. Easily reachable by a direct 20-minute train ride from Malpensa Airport, Saronno is also ideally close to Milan for those looking to explore the larger metropolitan area. This combination of accessibility and historical intrigue makes Saronno a perfect meeting point for attendees seeking both convenience and a taste of Italian heritage.
Originally known as Solomnum in Roman times, Saronno has seen several name changes, attributed to the linguistic phenomenon of 'rotacism'—the transformation of 'l' to 'r' in local dialects.
The city's strategic location along the ancient Via Mediolanum-Bilitio, which connected Milan to Lugano via Varese, underscores its historical significance. The earliest documented mention dates back to a notarial deed from 796. Throughout the medieval era, Saronno flourished under the Duchy of Milan and later, during the Fascist era, became a central hub for the surrounding region.
Today, Saronno is not just a gateway to major cities but also a serene destination with a distinctive charm that captivates visitors. Its proximity to major transport hubs like Malpensa Airport ensures that participants can easily access our conference while enjoying the unique heritage and quieter streets of Saronno. The town is also well known for its Amaretti (apricot kernel biscuits) and Amaretto (liqueur).
Conference venue
For the Open Forum 2024, we have selected two venues in Saronno: Teatro Giuditta Pasta and the building of the Italian Academy of Osteopathic Medicine (AIMO). These venues reflect both the historical significance and the educational focus of the event.
Teatro Giuditta Pasta is a key cultural landmark in Saronno, known for its diverse range of performances including music, opera, and theater. Established in 1990, the theater has become a central figure in promoting arts and culture in the region. Its convenient location, just a five-minute walk from the Saronno train station, ensures easy access for all attendees.
AIMO, the Italian Academy of Osteopathic Medicine, is renowned for its excellence in osteopathic education with an international perspective. Hosting part of the conference here aligns with the educational and professional development goals of the event, providing a setting that is both inspiring and conducive to learning.

Located just a five-minute walk from the conference venue, this four-star hotel offers comfortable and elegant rooms, a spa on the top floor and a gym. It is situated near the Saronno train station, making it easily accessible for attendees.
The night rates per room for a single use are 175€ (6th Nov) and €135 (7th Nov). For a double use there are additional €20.

The hotel is located at the heart of Saronno only 15 minutes walk from the conference venue and 10 minutes walk from the train station. The night rates per room are fixed until 31st August at €109/single room and €115/double room.

This four-star hotel offers a blend of classic and contemporary styles in its 91 soundproof rooms, ensuring a restful stay. Since its construction, the Hotel della Rotonda has been managed by the Lazzaroni family, founder of the Saronnese biscuit factory of the same name. Inside the hotel you will find a unique collection of Lazzaroni biscuit molds.
