The objective of this study was to describe the prevalence and referred pain area of trigger points in blue-collar and white-collar workers, and to analyze if the referred pain pattern elicited from TrPs completely reproduces the overall spontaneous pain pattern.

Osteopathy in the cranial field is a treatment approach used by osteopaths in the management of a wide variety of complaints. OCF is based on the premise that the bones of the skull are mobile and that changes in the flow of cerebrospinal fluid can affect the function of the body. There are only a few studies assessing the effectiveness of OCF and there is no published research investigating patients' perception of what happens during and post an OCF treatment.

This case series is presented in an attempt to describe the use of Myofascial trigger point release to improve comfort, function and decrease the spasticity (increased muscle tone) in children with CP.

Recent clinical recommendations still propose active exercises for CNSLBP. However, acceptance of exercises by patients may be limited by pain-related manifestations. Current evidences suggest that manual therapy induces an immediate analgesic effect through neurophysiologic mechanisms at peripheral, spinal and cortical levels. The aim of this pilot study was first, to assess whether MT has an immediate analgesic effect, and second, to compare the lasting effect on functional disability of MT plus AE to sham therapy plus AE.

The potency of touch in osteopathic manipulative treatment is physically realized within the musculoskeletal, immune, nervous and endocrine systems. Psychologically, touch supports a verbal and tactile interaction that is both diagnostic and therapeutic. Touch is a 2-way street that adds meaning and depth to the patient-physician experience.
