OsEAN – the Osteopathic European Academic Network – is a professional platform for institutions and individuals committed to high-quality osteopathic education.
Our members benefit from shared knowledge, international collaboration, high-level events, access to innovative training, and a strong professional community. Whether you are an osteopathic school, postgraduate provider, or individual educator, we welcome you to explore our membership options.
Membership Types
Three membership options allow educational institutions and individual educators to participate in the network.
Core Membership
Open to European osteopathic education institutions certified under the European Norm 16686 – Osteopathic Healthcare Provision (or equivalent).
Certification ensures quality standards in education, clinical training and professional practice. Institutions certified by any recognised European certification body may apply; a separate OsEAN audit is not required when valid certification is presented.

Participation: Full
Affiliated Membership
For institutions actively involved in osteopathic education that do not meet core membership criteria, including European institutions not yet certified under EN 16686, institutions outside Europe and postgraduate education providers.
Affiliated members can take part in activities and projects but do not have voting rights in the General Meeting. No audit is required.

Individual Membership
OsEAN is also open to individual educators. Members can be lecturers, tutors, assistants and other professionals actively teaching at osteopathic institutions.
Applicants do not have to be osteopaths. Freelance educators must teach at least one course annually; employed educators provide confirmation of employment.

Application Process
OsEAN welcomes applications from institutions and individuals involved in osteopathic education and training. English is OsEAN's working language, and application documents should be submitted in English.
Core & Affiliated Membership
Step 1 – Submit Your Application

- Form I – OsEAN member profile for Full Time School, or Form II – OsEAN member profile for Part Time School
- Form III – OsEAN member profile Curriculum
- Organigram of the school board
- Short CV of heads of department and list of lecturers with their educational background
- Plan of the school and its premises
- Proof of business status (e.g. company registration)
- Proof of quality certification (if available)
- Proof of accreditation (e.g. Ministry, University), if applicable
The OsEAN Office checks completeness and forwards the documents to the Membership Committee.
Step 2 – Present Your School
After review, applicants are invited to present their school at an OsEAN All Members Meeting, explain their educational approach and answer questions.
Step 3 – Membership Decision
Core members vote on the application during the General Meeting. A simple majority of core member representatives is required, in accordance with Article 5 of the OsEAN Bylaws. Applications may be declined without a specific reason.
Individual Membership
Individual membership is open to professionals teaching at an osteopathic institution. Applicants need not be osteopaths, but must deliver educational content relevant to osteopathic training.
Required documents:
- Proof of teaching activity at an osteopathic institution:
- Freelancers: at least one course per year
- Employed staff: confirmation of employment
- A relevant diploma (not limited to osteopathy).

Membership Fees
Membership fees help run OsEAN and sustain events, training and collaborative projects.

per year (10% of institutional fee)These fees are set for 2025 and may be adjusted annually in line with inflation. Invoices are issued at the beginning of the calendar year and must be paid within the stated deadline. Late payments may incur a surcharge.
